When Sven went to Ticino years ago – actually only temporarily and rather by chance – we didn’t realise that this would be the first step towards a new home. Growing up on the Lower Rhine and in the Westerwald, and after the years of study in the north of Germany, we both knew the landscape in the Alps only from afar.
Living and working in Ticino are characterised by contrasts: There are worlds between life on the lake shores and the villages in the valleys.
In architecture, too, we love exciting contrasts of old and new, light and dark, smooth and rough, warm and cold… In addition to our enthusiasm for our work, we are also united by our passion for old Vespas on which we can, for example, speed to the construction site in the summer. In our free time we like to go hiking and enjoy the closeness to nature that Ticino offers.
We mainly deal with conversions and refurbishments. We have always regretted when buildings worth preserving from our point of view were demolished and replaced by arbitrary-looking buildings. Especially when they shaped the character of their surroundings. We see building in the existing fabric as an exciting challenge and building fabric as a usable resource.

Bevor ich meine Ausbildung zum Hichbauzeichner 1995 in einem Architekturbüro in Krefeld began, habe ich in verschiedenen handwerklichen und gemeinnützigen Berufen Erfahrungen gesammelt.
In deR Ausbildung wuchs meine Begeisterung für die Architektur, so dass ich mich nach der Ausbildung an der Technichen Universität in Braunschweig eingeschrieben habe.
Nach dem Studienabschluss an der TU 2005 und freier Mitarbeit in einem Braunschweiger Architekturbüro kam dann 2005 der Umzug ins Tessin und die Mitarbeit bei einem Bauprojekt auf Freelance-Basis. Aus dieser temporär gedachten Arbeit ging 2006 die Gründung der Einzelfirma Studio Baumeister hervor.
Zwischen 2010 & 2012 war ich ausserdem zusätzlich bei einem Engadiner Architekturbüro in Teilzeit angestellt, habe aber natürlich meine Projekte im Tessin gleichzeitig weiter betreut.
2015 Anstellung eines Bauzeichnerlehrlings, der nach Abschluss seiner Lehre bis heute für das Büro tätig ist.
Im Januar 2020 Umwandlung der Einzelfirma Studio Baumeister in eine Kollektivgesellschaft gemeinsam mit Natascha.
Natascha Baumeister, Jahrgang 1975: vor und während dem Studium hatte ich die Möglichkeit, verschiedene Berufe – auch ausserhalb der Architektur – kennenzulernen, und profitiere auch heute noch davon. Nach dem Studienabschluss an der Technischen Universität Braunschweig 2005 habe ich zunächst in einem Braunschweiger Architekturbüro gearbeitet, für das ich bereits während des Studiums tätig war. 2007 Umzug ins Tessin und zunächst Mitarbeit in einem örtlichen Architekturbüro, dann ab 2008 Mitarbeit in einer auf Bäder und Wellnessbereiche spezialisierten Firma. Als Planerin und Bauleiterin habe ich dort eine Leidenschaft für Bäder entwickelt, die mir bis heute geblieben ist. 2010 Wechsel in den allgemeinen Hochbau und Mitarbeit in einem Architekturbüro in St. Moritz als Wochenaufenthalter im schönen Engadin. Ende 2012 habe ich das wöchentliche Pendeln beendet und war bis Ende 2019 bei einem Architekturbüro in Locarno angestellt. Seit Januar 2020 gemeinsam mit Sven Studio Baumeister SNC
1991 in Italien geboren und aufgewachsen, wo ich auch mein erstes Berufsdiplom am Istituto Tecnico per Geometri in Catanzaro erhielt und meine Ausbildung im Jahr 2010 abschloss. Nach einer ersten Berufserfahrung als Büroassistent in der Firma “Costruzioni Edili 2002” in Mesoraca, beschloss ich 2012, in die Schweiz zu ziehen, um weitere Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Im Tessin bekam ich die Gelegenheit, im Studio “Archigest Sagl” als technischer Assistent auf der Baustelle zu arbeiten, wo ich neben einem direktem Einblick in die Bauphase von Einfamilienhäusern auch die Grundlagen der Projektdarstellung mit Hilfe von CAD erlernte. Von da an begeisterte ich mich bald für das Metier, so dass ich mich 2013 am SPAI in Lugano für eine Lehre als Bauzeichner einschrieb, ab 2015 im Architekturbüro Baumeister fortsetzte und 2017 abgeschlossen habe. Ich blieb auch nach der Ausbildung und bin so seitdem für das Büro tätig.
RALA, Jahrgang 2018: Nach einer allen unbekannten Hundejugend auf Santorini, machte ich 2019 Station bei der “SAWA” die auf der Insel ein Tierheim ohne Zwinger betreiben, wo alle Hunde miteinander laufen und soziale Kontakte knüpfen können. Von dort holte mich die Partnerorganisation Organisation “HILF DEM TIER” aus Zürich in die Schweiz, nachdem sie mich an die Baumeisters vermittelt hatte. Vorab haben sie mein neues Zuhause besucht und mit meinen neuen Herrchen gesprochen. Ende 2019 war ich adoptiert und in meinem “für-immer-Zuhause” im Tessin angekommen. Mitlerweile habe auch ich – wie meine Familie – italienisch gelernt und unterstütze das Team als « Front office support » und « Fellnase of public-relations » wo ich nur kann. Einen Teil meines Lohnes spende ich an die beiden oben genannten Tierschutzorganisationen, denn man soll ja immer auch etwas zurückgeben, wenn man kann, sagt meine Familie.

My enthusiasm for architecture grew during my apprenticeship, so that I enrolled at the Technical University in Braunschweig after completing my training.
After graduating from the TU in 2005 and freelancing in an architectural office in Braunschweig, I moved to Ticino in 2005 and worked on a construction project on a freelance basis. In the same year I founded “ Studio Baumeister” as single company.
Between 2010 & 2012 I was also employed part-time by an architectural firm in Engadin, but of course I continued to work on my projects in Ticino at the same time.
2015 Employment of an apprentice draughtsman who, after completing his training, continues to work for the office to this day.

Natascha Baumeister, born 1975: before and during my studies I had the opportunity to get to know various professions, and I still benefit from this today. After graduating from the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2005, I first worked in the same city in an architectural office for which I had been employed during my studies. In 2007, I moved to Ticino and started working for a local architectural office, then in 2008 joined a company specialised in bathrooms and wellness areas. As a planner and construction manager, I developed a passion for bathrooms that has stayed to this day. 2010 Change back to the general building construction sector and employment in the beautiful Engadin region, in an architectural office in St. Moritz as a weekly resident. I stopped commuting weekly at the end of 2012 and was employed by an architecture firm in Locarno until the end of 2019. January 2020 Foundation of studio Baumeister SNC together with Sven.
Born in 1991 in Italy where I completed my first professional diploma at the Istituto Tecnico per Geometri in Catanzaro in 2010. Following an initial work experience as an office assistant in the company “Costruzioni Edili 2002” in Mesoraca (KR), I decided to move to Switzerland (TI) in 2012 to gain further experience. Once arrived in Ticino, I started working at the Studio “Archigest Sagl”, as a technical assistant on a building site, where, in addition to an insight into the construction phase of family homes, I learned the basics of project design by using CAD. Shortly afterwards, I became passionate about the profession, so in 2013 I enrolled in an apprenticeship at SPAI in Trevano Canobbio, Lugano, as an architectural draftsman. After being recruited by Baumeister Architecture Office,I continued this education and completed my training in 2017. Currently maintaining this role, working closely with the architects who trained me.
RALA, born in 2018: After a to everyone unknown dog adolescence on Santorini, I stopped by the “SAWA” in 2019 who run a kennel-free shelter on the island where all dogs can run together and socialise. From there, the partner-organisation “HILF DEM TIER” from Zurich brought me to Switzerland after they had arranged for me to live with the Baumeisters Beforehand, they visited my new home and talked to my new owners. By the end of 2019, I was adopted and had arrived at my “forever home” in Ticino. In the meantime, I have also learned Italian – like my family – and support the team as “front office support” and “furry nose of public-relations” wherever I can. I donate part of my salary to the two animal welfare organisations mentioned above, because you should always give something back if you can, my family says.
